I made up a table for clamping laminated necks up, strips of woods of your choice. Making sure the grain is all going the right way. Has anyone else used a similar idea for making necks and how did
you make out?
I am able to glue up 4 or 5 necks at a time!

I've made many laminated necks and like the looks of them. For one it's really easy to cut them roughly on the bandsaw and then route to final shape. Good tip from juju with the small holes and alignment pin. I've used small nails before hidden in the wood, but you have to remove them before routing. Metal on cutting blades is murder.
I also have used poplar,inexpensive but works well, even a solid neck I made of poplar has not moved a bit!

the last build i made was a laminated neck - i used regular G- Clamps to glue it up - but to stop the laminations sliding about when glued and Clampped it i
(1) clampped the three laminations together Dry without Glue
(2) while still clampped (dry) i drilled a 3mm pilot hole through all three laminates (from the side of the neck) one pilot hole in the butt and another through the headstock
(3) unclamp the laminates apply glue to the laminates , insert a 100mm length of 3mm stainless steel rod through the pilot holes and re- clamp without fear of the laminates moving around
(4) leave to dry for 24 Hours
(5) use either some Mole Grips or a vice to Grip one end of the 3mm rod , slowly turn and pull on the rod and extract it
(6) cut off the headstock and butt scrap wood where the pilot hole are , or if you need all the wood just plug and Glue the holes with the same wood as used on the neck - do this before you start working on the Neck & headstock profile
thats it job done

Yes mate it has a Truss rod fitted , hot rod type , my first ever Truss rod , and so simple to do also
