Formal notice of the AGM of Home Grown Music Collective.
5.00pm, 1st October, 2011, at The Public, West Bromwich.
As part of this year's Boxstock, we will be holding our first AGM. I intend to keep things short and businesslike, so it won't be a long drawn-out meeting, and we are running it after the main activities of the day.
It will be open only to paid-up members of HGMC, so please bring your membership card. If you have any issues you wish to discuss, could you please give notice in advance, then we can actually put these on the agenda. This will help prevent proceedings going on and on....keeping us away from a drink and some grub.
Sorry to be formal about it, but this is a piece of business that we have to do to keep above board and to be seen to be conducting business properly, and I like to keep these things as straightforward and simple as possible.
Regards, John (Chairman HGMC)

Minutes of AGM , held on 1st October 2011, 4.30pm
at The Public, West Bromwich
Chairman’s Report
John Wormald reported that the HGMC had drawn up the constitution in November of 2010 and had been open for membership and active, following the opening of a bank account, since March 2011.
Current membership stands at 75 paid-up members. The HGMC has a website and also has a stock of membership packs and merchandising.
During the past few months, HGMC has had a presence at various events such as Birmingham Arts Fest, Upton upon Severn and Colne Blues Festivals, and members had been active in promoting open mic evenings and other music events.
The chairman said that one of the advantages of being properly constituted as a not-for-profit organization meant that it would be possible to apply for grant funding. As HGMC had been formally constituted for less than a year, it was not possible to apply to organisations such as PRS (Performing Rights Society), but stated that it was his intention to ensure that applications for funding would be made in the coming months to support the activities of HGMC
Secretary’s Report
David Ward stated he had nothing to report.
Treasurer’s Report
Ben Moor confirmed that HGMC had a bank account and that at present were showing a profit of around £77. HGMC are holding a stock of membership cards and merchandising (tee-shirts, stickers & plectrums).
Election of officers
The chairman informed the members that the 3 posts of chairman, treasurer and secretary would need to be filled, either by re-election of existing officers or election of new officers.
Chris Tinker proposed re-election of John Wormald as chairman, this was duly seconded and voted upon with no dissent.
There were no proposals for the post of treasurer, and Ben Moor agreed to carry on as treasurer, with no dissent.
Andy Leonard was proposed as secretary, and was duly seconded and voted upon with no dissent.
The chairman stated that it would be useful to appoint some further posts to help spread the workload, in particular the post of web-master and press & publicity officer.
Tony Davies was proposed as web-master, and was seconded and duly voted in with no dissent.
Malcolm Wright was proposed as press and publicity officer, and was seconded and duly voted in with no dissent.
Ben Moor suggested that we might consider appointing a Patron as a non-executive position. John Wormald said this could be discussed outside the meeting, and said that Rat Scabies (former drummer with the Damned) was already interested in HGMC. Ben Moor also said he had been in touch with Ade Edmondson, and also suggested it may be possible to approach Seasick Steve with this in mind.
Any other business
The meeting was opened to the floor for questions and discussion.
It was suggested that HGMC car stickers could be made.
John Wormald proposed the idea of a “Hobo Guitar” that could be made and then sent out, to record a song, then pass it on to build-up a body of individual performances on the guitar. The results could then be posted on YouTube or a dedicated website, possibly compiling a DVD at the end of the project.
The Chairman declared the meeting closed at approximately 5.15pm.
Cool - soon as we get back to normal we can float this.
I think all we need do is create an account and upload some material Alan - if someone has the time to make it look pro by editing stuff then all the better.
