string gauges

Morning guys, recently I have been looking at some really good beginners lessons on you tube ( three sting cigar box guitar for beginners) At the moment I am using the thinnest 3 strings from a light set in gdg I am alright till I slide down to the 12 fret then it sounds completely different and I can't find out what strings he's using.Would any of you guys be kind enough to look at the video and give me some idea what strings he might be using Mal

  • Generally the recommendation is to use the a d & g strings from a set of strings, that's the second, third and fourth heaviest of the strings, obviously the d and g strings are designed to be tuned like that anyway, so you get the best sound. I tend to use electric strings, but not too light. Most recommend acoustic strings, but I've not got round to needing to change my strings yet.
