Morning guys, recently I have been looking at some really good beginners lessons on you tube ( three sting cigar box guitar for beginners) At the moment I am using the thinnest 3 strings from a light set in gdg I am alright till I slide down to the 12 fret then it sounds completely different and I can't find out what strings he's using.Would any of you guys be kind enough to look at the video and give me some idea what strings he might be using Mal

Generally the recommendation is to use the a d & g strings from a set of strings, that's the second, third and fourth heaviest of the strings, obviously the d and g strings are designed to be tuned like that anyway, so you get the best sound. I tend to use electric strings, but not too light. Most recommend acoustic strings, but I've not got round to needing to change my strings yet.
