  • For some real classic blues, have a look at Bluestabs

A shedfull of lyrics, tabs and info on the 'Great ones'. Well put together and free by someone who loves the Blues. A French guy's blog but the lyrics etc are in English. Well worth a look.

  • Yeah - I have used Audacity to try (and fail) at recording, the only way it doesn't sound like a cat being mutilated is if i use my camera to video me and get rid of the visual stuff, but even this has lots background white noise. Not that Audacity isn't good - its just not for my equiptment, but I have managed to get it to work on the school computers.

  • yeah it looks cool - have any of you tried Ultimate Guitar (add me - madman21) it has been vital to me being able to play guitar.  It has it's music split into categories - TABs, Chords, Bass TABs, Drum music, Power Tab, Guitar Pro and TAB Pro.  The last three are all software that is used to write out and play back TABs.  Power TAB  is completely free (DOWNLOAD), although it isn't the best one of the three it is still very good.

Guitar Pro can be bought or you can download old versions for free.  It is the software that I use the most for music.  You can mute out certain instruments and keep the others (muting guitar parts is useful as a backing track), or soloing drums to keep you in time.

I have no experience with TAB Pro, but it is supposedly very good.  There are very few songs on Ultimate Guitar that are in this format.

    • Hi Penfoot,

Thanks for you input, I will have a look athe sites you suggested.

I am not very technically minded, I have a ZOOM-MRS802 8 track recorder,

but I use it in line with another free download called "AUDACITY" where I mix my

tracks together them burn my own C.D.'s

  • Have to agree with you there, the system by which you can change the key to one which you can play in is very useful.

Just need someone to post some more John Mayall and Beefheart now!
