I can't remember who mentioned them, but I had a punt on some of the cheapo Chinese pickups off t'bay..
Anyway, they showed up today with springs and screws - £1.83 delivered from Hong Kong, marked as a gift so no customs interest - and having dropped one into a guitar, they seem to work nicely enough. Took three weeks to come, ordered 28th December, delivered 19th January.
Worth a punt anyway, and I figured it worth mentioning, if only because they delivered, and you are never sure, eh?
This is the ebay store I bought from:

though there are plenty of others if you look around. I'm not related or nothing..

I've used these pickups (or ones very like them) on several cigar box guitars and ukuleles. They work well - as long as they are fitted correctly with a sharp angle for the strings as they pass over the saddle bridge - and because of their ease of fitting I would reccomend them to anyone thinking of using such a set up. (;o).
