pick up and neck problem

I am making a  3 string with a through the box neck and want to use a humbucker  pickup I am worried that I will need to remove too much of the neck to locate the pickup and I will weaken it. are there any low profile pickups ( not piezo ) that you would recommend?

Thanks In advance Mitchell

  • If you don't want to go with flatpups, you can fix the neck to the a piece of board that connect the bottom of the neck to the back of the CBG.  You are essentially building a "backbone" neck thru and you can remove way more wood to accomodate that pickup than you would with a typical neck thru.
