  • LOL! That is funny, but the only thing is she knows where I sleep.
  • Take them out and save them, that way if your wife gives you any lip about all the cigar box's laying around you can give her some back. ha
  • John M is right I wouldn't put my lips inside the box, I also find the girls tend to like them on the outside better...Good point John...lol...
  • Like Jon says, I also have had some problems with the high quality hinges that are found on cigar boxes. Again, it is personal preference. I have noticed that sometimes if I glue them in, I might have to trim one of more of the pieces if the lid does not sit down correctly, but this only every once in a while.
  • Thanks for all the ideas and the great humor.
  • I also use them for various thing's in my builds such as shims....

  • Hello Doug...I take em out but if you leave in you should glue them in place so they don't rattle or fall out inside the box...
  • Don't put your lips inside the box. It will make them red and girls won't want to kiss you.

Sorry, but I couldn't resist although I probably should have done.

  • This is the best thing about cigar box guitars - there are no rules!  Both taking them out and leaving them in will work - benefits each way. My recommendation - build one of each and see what you like best. Personally, I've been taking them out but every once in a while I have had to glue a wood block back in later to prevent lid shifting - especially if the hinges aren't aligned too well.

  • And I go the other way, I leave them in and glue them in place. I think they help keep the lid from shifting side to side. But either way works.
