Hey everyone.
I'm still pretty new around here and I like that there seems to be a group for just about every variation of self build guitars.
Anyway this is my first solid body 3 stringer (2nd first because its the 2nd body on this same neck. the previous one I freehanded and looked like an upside down melting strat). Previously I have made a licence plate 6 stringer and a novelty 3 stringer as a birthday gift last week which left me wanting my own 3 string guitar.
The only wood I had available was a piece of ash used on a previous build and an off cut of an old scaffolding timber. I've made a floating bridge from a piece of oak, pick ups from relay switches and used cheap classical tuners. I'm getting away with extra light strings as heavier strings where a bit much for the ash neck.
This has just become my favourite guitar so far. I'm enjoying learning slide at the minute. The frets & markers are just burnt on with a soldering iron so its fretless.
If I spent as much time playing as I do building I'd be pretty good by now :-)
