I wanted to learn Death Letter by Cassandra Wilson. Trouble was that it was in the wrong key. OK, I could have retuned but it meant either going very tight or very loose and sloppy (not good to be loose and sloppy). I found a bit of software called Vox. You can get it from this site. You can change the pitch, tempo and lots more and it is free. Only drawback is that Cassandra Wilson now sounds a bit like Daffy Duck.

It is for Mac so maybe a PC user would like to recommend something for those poor Micr$cum users (of course I suggest getting a Mac). Hope this is useful to someone.

  • Hi Michael. Yes, but there's loose and sloppy and then there's loose and sloppy. This was the second one. Not good unless you like the sound of the lowest string whipping hell out of the frets (which you might and that would be fine too). I'm now on light electric strings so they are fairly loose to start with. Play on.
  • Go mac!,  Loose and sloppy is fine, gives you a real old time blues sound.
