Howdy from a Chesapeake Bay region musician

Hi all,

I found this site after going on the web and doing a search for CBG's after I had seen a homemade banjo in a Homesteading magazine one thing lead to another and I decided to do the CBG instead of the cookie tin banjo for right now. I've been a guitar player for over 20 years and play other instruments as well but I'm really looking forward to finishing my first CBG. This looks like the place to be for CBG.

I look forward to conversing with you all and hanging out on the forums and learning and I hope that I might also be able to provide knowledge when I can.

Best regards,
Scott

  • Good advice Eric,

I'm not sure when I will get the time to make second one so I need to make the first last. My CB is one of the thicker wood ones with a semi-rounded lid but I will re-enforce it and the neck anyway. I'm definitely going electric too so I will be soldering that stuff and making sure the 1/4 jack port is installed at a good angle and solid.

I can't wait to play my first notes, I hope I don't mess it up somehow...hehe

welcome welcome... the only simple advice you probably kinda figured anyway -- just a solid tight build -- solid joints and maybe a few little support blocks or things to make the thing a solid unit --- I lucked out on my first one and put blocks in the corners etc the paper thin basswood box I used and the thing RINGS!!! solid and full bodied. I'm amazed a stick on a box can sound like it does.
  • Thanks, One String Willie, it's good to be here.
