Hello from MO

Hello CBG people!  I tend to get bored during the winter months and to keep myself entertained I take to doing projects.  Having become enamored with Blues music a while back and being a cigar smoker, I feel it's only natural that I decided to try my hand at building a CBG.  I look forward to leaning a lot from this community and hopefully I'll be able to contribute some too.

Dan

  • Daniel,

Where in MO are you? There is a group of guys around KC, another around STL and a few in the Springfield area....

I'm a MO boy moving home to Springfield in June. If I can help you out with anything, just ask...

    the best,

  • one last thought before yo start___coming from a designer/artist __ once you have your visualization of the finished piece ---leave your mind open to changing as you go once things start to come together...i.e. -- I had a metal tailpiece I was sculpting to mount one way -- very cool and neat......but after I roughed the hardware out and held it in place to see how it would actually mount __ I think it'll be a more classy and MORE functional mounted the 'wrong' way around.. and removes the need for a string retainer behind the bridge (out of context I'm sure that's meaningless --- but you get my drift. Just leave yourself open to adjusting the plans as you go, rather than ramming through a 'concrete must-have' notion you had in the visualization stage...I made a few 'mistakes' on my first one that turned out to be great for one reason or another...
  • Thanks for the replies guys. I've been looking at pictures and trying to put together in my head/on paper what I'm wanting the finished product to look like. I'm pretty excited. When I decided I wanted to do this I knew what box I wanted to use first...the Liga Privada Dirty Rat. For some reason it just sounds like a blues song. I also have a Liga Privada #9 Flying Pig box on the way that I think will make a nice looking CBG. Should be a fun project.

  • You ought to get some cherry picks of boxes from your main cigar store!
  • Hi, and good luck with your cbg. I've built my first and starting the next 2 at the same time. Believe me, you learn from your mistakes. But love every part of it along the way.
Just read and watch everything you can find.
Have fun.. I look forward to seeing the end product.
