I decided I was going to build one of these after seeing a video on youtube(www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qFxXhg6zwA) of a electric one, but you can also build an acoustic one too. What is a Tres Cubano you may ask? It's a short scale(23" to 24") 6 string
I purposely prefer to find old thick & wide yard sticks that measure 1-1/2" or just a bit over. Check out my LPG's they work great with 3 or 4 string set ups.
I was wondering what I can do to maximize the sustain on a fretless CBG I'm building. Whether it be action, scale length, strings, fretboard, or anything else; I would like to know so I don't end up with too short of a sound.
I’ve noticed some builders advertising CBGs with hard metal bridges as electro-acoustic. Does anyone have experience of using hard metal bridges with strings threaded through from an anchored point? If so how is the bridge fixed to the lid while mai
having recently finished my first cbg with can lid resonator and rod piezzo pickup it does not resonate and there is no twang.it just sounds like a slightly muted acoustic guitar, any ideas anyone!
First off let me apologize if this info is already out there, but I couldn't find it. I have a 5 wire mini humbucker I want to coil split. The green and red wires are soldered together, and the black and unshielded ground wire are soldered together.
My first build was straight out of Poor Mans Guitar love it but now I want a fretted hot rod! My 1st question is. I'm going to use the Gitty Bucker at the neck and I was wondering if a piezo at the bridge would compliment the sound, or is a valid opt
I have been building my CBG's with 1 X 2 maple. I have given one to a friend and he says that the neck is starting to bow. Is this a problem others have seen and any suggestions on how to prevent bowing would be welcome. Thanks.
Just finished my first electric. Sat down to play a bit and realized I had somehow made the neck short. I’ve only got 15 complete frets! I can’t believe I did that. It plays really well too. I’m thinking I might just live with it or I mi
I’m building my first electric and installing a snake oil pickup. I’m not sure how it mounts in the box. It appears that it attaches to the pickup ring with two adjustable screws. Is that correct? Also, how do I determine the minimum amount of n
I'm having a bit of trouble with the sequence of events here:
I have a poplar neck, and have cut and glued the scarf for the headstock, and cut and glued the heel/backstrap. After I shape everything, it'll get a satin 1-step "natural" stain/varnish.
Hi folks! Newbie member/builder here. I have walnut. 100+ board feet, kiln-dried, waiting patiently in the frigid shop. Last woodworking activity was in 7th grade (50+ years ago). Am a bit rusty.
I’m planning out my first electric build and have a couple of question. First, is there any reason to leave a space between the box lid a neck as in my acoustic builds? Second, I’m planning on adding a heel for the first time. Is there any ru
