Nut files

I'm sure this question has been asked somewhere in here. I've looked and I havent been able to find any info on nut files. Does anyone have any info on inexpensive alternatives to the Stewmac etc. nut files? Ive seen what looks like wire files, and posted a pic but I dont know what they are called, and how well they work. Appreciate any info. Ham

  • those are acetylene torch tip cleaners. You can find them at any welding supply or and Sears. Typically under $ 10. Make your first cut with a thin blade (flush cut saw, or exacto hobby saw) and then expand it with the "file" of appropriate size....

  • Tough call, Ive been looking for luthier tools myself. Looking in IckBay (Ebay) and unless a place like Harbor Freight has em. Just might have to spend the money on a set?
