12 Bar Blues, take 1 and 2

Here is a slow 12 bar blues track to jam to or record with. Have fun!

"Take 2" is my attempt at a "home made" version with an improvised "drum track" and some CBG

Lets try to keep the song project discussions on topic and discuss general recording discussions  in the recording tips and tutorials thread (or start a new one if the subject warrants it)

  • Oh of course that is unless someone has the desire to add a bass track!

  • Ok, first an apology for the delay, I work a lot of hours and have other responsibilitys.... called life!

Secondly, when I originally started this my thought was that this would be the easy song to start on. Slow tempo straight 12 bar blues. I should have listened to it closer before I chose this one! The first thing I noticed when I started messing with the track last week was a subtle rhythm change in the middle that kept throwing me off as I tried to play my "drums"." Then the chord progression and changes started flustering me a little as I tried to play some basic CBG......

Apologys to anyone else who struggled with this too!

Anyway, I have added a rough mix "home made" basic version in the original post as "12 bar blues take 2" for anyone to play along with or add to.

I may add a bass track, and am working on several collaboration versions as well as plans for a possible "how he did that" video.

    Have fun!

  • Just trying my rusty three stringer again,no slide, first time playing a three stringer to something. Sounds like i need more practice.

  • I'm confused by trying to figure out what key this is in from a piano dealing with a Wisconsin winter.  What key is this?

    • it's in G...hope your cold piano can join in : -)

  • I might be wrong, but I think we are ok on tuning here, B might be sleep deprived and confused with the Thump track. Please let me know if I am wrong about that!

Oh and of course Bluesheart, lay something down man!

    • yep you're about right Mark yeah I thought we were in THUMP world. YES it's all in tune here : -)

  • Cool work! I'd like to see if I can figure out how to add some blues harp to that if you don't mind?
