Heat, a good flexible scraper to peel & tons, I mean tons of patience!!! Every time I try to rush, it never peels right & makes a mess out of it!! Good luck :)
Most of these boxes have some glues that's easy to peel the paper off, but some have stubborn globs of glue that refuse to let go. I removed all paper and glue on one box with my electric sander.
The wood underneath is plywood unless you have a Humidor box, so the exposed box won't win any beauty awards unless you stain or paint. The top on most of these boxes are held on by the paper and the tops are usually made of pressed fiberboard.
