  • Yeah, your "little feet" solution looks like it might work! I assume the top side of the resonator (bell) will be held in place by string pressure passing through a biscuit. Or, will there be some wood blocks to hold the resonator (bell) in place? Let us know how the finished instrument looks (and sounds) like.

    • I don't know if is necessary a bisquit, I just soldered a brass bridge using the minimum possible tin, and it works. But maybe is better a more large soldering to transmit the string vibration to the body ? Or is better a wood buscuit?  The brass is 1 millimeter thin, but is quite rigid.  I will solder inside a vibraphone :-)  it's no easy, but is a lot of fun.

    • This is the overall design.  The wood around the "bell" will act as a megaphone

    • Now I have soldered inside 3 ft and half of bronce.  The sound is something never heard, a little bit of Sitar.  I make my experiments with one single string, I've noticed that there is more time of vibration. I feel myself like a medieval alchemist, tomorrow I will try with a much more "solid" wire.

    • Great, if you can, load video sound bite of it.

    • Today i've studied. I discovered the existence of the "Dulcitone"  a kind of piano with no strings, but with tuning forks instead.  There is one in a museum in New Zealand.  And studied the phisics of tuning fork. Very interesting. Then I try another variation, but it does not work, see the photo.  Ihave soldered right down the bridge, but is deaf. I have to try with a real tunig fork, as i find one i will try.

    • I put a snake inside, his eye is looking me :-)  I'm on the way making two identical guitars, one with the snake, one without. Be patient, as finished I will record both with a good microphone.  The eye is glass, a big  "murrina" from Venice. The snake is copper tube hammer flattened.

    • I salute you sir, for your dilegence, in this endeavour. I would love to hear how it works out sounding.

      Best Wishes

  • Neat, looks as if they work like tuning rods resonating sound.
