Nut & Bridge Slotting

For nut and saddle slotting I first start the slot with an Exacto Saw ($3.79)

To finish the slot so it has a rounded bottom I use a Torch Tip Cleaner (Sears $3.99)

You can also use a piece of a wound guitar string to finish & round the slot.

Those torch-tip tools work well and are vastly cheaper than a set of dedicated nut files.
