    Is it true you can drill through the middle of a piezo and it will still function?

    Nick--solder the ground to the flat surface of the volume pot and the white wire to lug 1 of the pot.  Use a 500K audio taper pot.

    I want to try something different and put a mini humbucker in one of my CBG's. Usually just use the radio shack piezo or nothing at all. Not a wiring genius, but I noticed I only have a ground and a white wire to work with on the humbucker. I'd like to put a volume knob at least on the box.

Bowed instruments

OK guys. I need a bit of mad experiment know how and ideas.. Has anyone made any bowed instruments?  I would like to make a cello type instrument and about the only thing I know about all this is that at the basic level the string curvature is quite rounded (so that the bow has enough clearance to effect the strings one at a time). Has anyone in this group produced any noise from anything in this way? If so, how is it done without all the finesse of going out and buying one of these things to…

DIY Tremolo

I got to play with a Floyd rose the other day and it was incredible. I need to be able to build some kind of tremolo bridges.  I know I could buy them, but I know I don't have to explain why I want a way to make them. I've seen a few whammy bars on boxes, but they usually seem to just look cool.  Any and all ideas welcome; I'm not scared of failed experiments.

Fever dream pickup

First off about the only thing I really know about electronics is Ohm's Law. I was sick as hell yesterday, fever dreams and the whole bit, people who go out in public when sick with stuff like that should be publicly flogged. But in one of those dreams I watched myself wrapping the inside of a steel sewing machine bobbin electrical tape, then filling it with very fine wire using the sewing machine's bobbin winder, painting the windings in epoxy cement, then sticking a steel 1/4 inch flathead…

Ceramic piezo disc as a mic for a reverb spring

Normally I wire a piezo to a 1/4inch jack and canjo is electrified. now I'm trying to figure a way to amplify a spring inside a canjo with a piezo to create a reverb effect. Is a piezo a microphone? I believe it's a vibration or contact microphone somehow but can it be more powerful by adding magnets somehow to pick up the sounds of the spring? I'm wondering if someone has made a reverb with a simple piezo and how it's wired? Any help here appreciated. Using a cookie tin right now...
