  • The standard is 22 gauge stranded. But something similar such as 24 gauge or 20 gauge ought to work to. Solid would work too if you can't get stranded.

    You can get it from Stew Mac, but I think they're way over charging for it. I've found some at surplus electronics places online for a good price. At my local Ace Hardware they didn't have anything thinner than 18 gauge solid, which I thought was too thick. I'm not sure about Home Depot etc.

    For stranded, once you strip the end, twist all the strands together to make it more solid and able to feed through the pot and jack lugs. You can also tin it first with solder to make it even more solid.
