Shorty question

So i have a few petite boxes & want to make a mini 3 string. I was wondering what might be a good shorty scale length?-while still gettting a blues sound. Also, how would i space the frets? I'm doing 24.5 & 25" on most of my guitars right now, which seem long especially if i try to center (more or less) the bridge on the box,  So 2 things - a good shorty scale length for a mini & maybe a shorter scale for my standard length so i can center the bridge more.
Many thanks for any advise -cheers

  • Damn,,,,, AGAIN I agree with Sam,
If you want to know about short scale, Diane is your man, well, you know what I mean, lol
  • Braxton,

Trust Diane in Chicago on the subject of short scale lengths... She's got more short scale builds than any three of us and her stuff is excellent.

  • I find 19" is about as short as I would want to go. The frets tend to get tight near the middle of the neck.
Big fingers have a hard time hitting chords and such.
I have no idea how mando players do it.

  • Me, I like a 17" or a 19". Good for those littler boxes. I use 30, 20 and 16 strings on a 17 for a DAD, or the same for CGC on the 19".

Just print up a new fret layout template for the size to decide on and you're in business.
