Howdy all, been lurking around here for a few weeks and joined up as a member a few days ago. I'm finally getting ready to build my own CBG

Heres a few pictures of the box I'm planning on useing and the parts I have so far. I need to now get Three tension pins, a piece of 2x1 and some strings before I borrow some tools and get working on it, any tips, tricks anyone could give me would be appreciated, I also plan to take various pictures of the buil stages and post em here, hopefully with a video of the finished product!

  • Haha, cheers I shall be true to the box always! I might actually try some grind core just for a laugh, who knows might even do some thrash metal style playing on it aswell, I'll be sure to experiment.

Here is the Zen of it, mate: Be true to the box, and the box will be true to you! CHEERS! :-) (I was wondering if you plan on doing some grindcore on it when your done? LOL!)
  • Read everything, listen to everyone then do what you want. It all works out in the end.

  • The tuners are awesome. If I had those I would build something around them.

Don't listen to Wes, he'll steer you wrong

    My advice:
    1) measure twice (cut once)
    2) DON'T USE GORILLA GLUE -- no matter what the guy at your hardware store tells you
    3) Screw the neck if you can but that's NOT mandatory
    4) hot glue the piezo on (to what ever surface you feel, tho I put it on the lid near the bridge)
    5) Listen to others here. I doubt anyone will steer you wrong
    LOL

Matt btw- really, listen to him

    oh- welcome to the addiction

What are the bolts for? Nut and bridge? Likes the tuners. They will work ok.

As far as tips and tricks: Look around here and look at what others have done. Search and read previous posts (its all been done before, believe me)! Grab the plans from the Free Resources section. You will get a fair amount of advice in this post -- pretty much all good.

Thanks for the advice so far, I was thinking of useing the one of the bolts for the nut and the eye bolt for the bridge. Cheers I had a result with the Tuners I got em for free from the music store down the road, the guy gave a me a box of spares and told me to dig around until I find something and I came across those
