  • I use a piezo disk and I attach to the under side of the lid near the bridge on the bass side. Putting it on the treble side ends up with too much treble sound and it's too "thin" sounding. Near the bridge is good because there's lots of vibration there. I used to mount it on the side of the box because it was easier, but it didn't sound nearly as good and was much quieter through an amp.
  • Richey is correct... standard placement in on the bass side of the bridge, under the top.  Some more advanced builders will install piezos in the bridge or between the bridge and the top side of the top.  Then, anything goes as far as number and location of piezos.  I remember one builder who routed a wire channel in the neck and installed a piezo under the nut.....

  • Under the bridge would be the standard place. I wrap mine in pieces of an old mouse mat (the flexible rubbery kind) and wedge them between the through neck and soundboard. If you are using 1 piezo put it towards the bass strings. I just hooked up a 4 stringer with 2 piezos in parallel, one at either side of the bridge and it sounds lovely!

Although I should add you should experiment before you attach it, if you can still get the box open - you might prefer the sound closer to the front of the box, for example.
