I am about to wire up my most recent build with a single piezo disk.  Where is the best spot in the box to put the disk?  And, what is the best way to adhere the disk to the box?

I am doing a through neck design similar to the guitar below.  On two previous guitars I stuck the disk to the neck (not the box) directly under the bridge.  I attached it with silicone adhesive and then I put a layer of silicone over the top of it.

They both sound pretty good (the 2nd better than the first), but is there a better technique that will result in a better sound?

  • The couple I wired I slide the copper edge of the disc between the neck and top under the bridge w. a hot glue gun and mad sure I put a decent amount of glue on the leads so the wouldn't rip off,and that was pretty much all the glue I used. They sound pretty good.I'm thinking of incasing one between 2 pieces of hardwood, but haven't got to wiring my latest.

  • Mine lives under the bone and wood bridge.

  • most recommend under the bridge, though experiment if you like it's easy to do,  I sandwich the piezo between two pieces of soft Velcro to reduce the sharpness and microphonic effects and this works pretty well, I cut a circular slot in the neck under the bridge and place the piezo inside .  (-:

  •  Each guitar has a happy spot and each person has a way to incase the disk and attach.  I like to put the disk on long leads and try a few different spots. I use double sided sticky foam, some times on the pickup side. I have been leaning toward mag pickups.

  • not really..lol

seems by your results the next will be better than the last...
