Looking for a small practice amp to use with a piezo equipped CBG. See alot of the Danelectro Honeytones, anyone got first-hand experience with it? Others? Looking for battery capability as well as a/c adapter. Thanks

I found a Line 6 Micro Spider at a local pawn shop for $60.00. This is a great little battery powered amp, comparable to the Roland Micro Cube. Pawn shops are your friend, when looking for small amps cheap.
If money is an issue, I dont think you can go wrong with a Honeytone.I use Honeytone for my demo amp, and we also sell Honeytones , mostly because customers want the Amp they hear and see me using.They like the idea of being able to use it anywhere,(battery power) and they like the idea of being able to pick out the color they prefer.( I use the color preference availability as a selling point)
I use the Honeytone at the door of our shop pointing out to the hall of the MALL , so folks can hear me playing LONG before they see me. Sort of like a" Pied Piper" thing. They follow the sound until they find the source ( me) and an instrument they never heard of but a sound they fall in love with.If they've got any money, its soon mine LOL,, In theory,,,,,
I got a couple of HoneyTone amps whn Guitar Center had them on sale for $19. and they are great little practice amps with a lot of vintage tone for the money. You can clip them on your belt and walk around the house with it, which is nice. I also have the Roland Micro Cube and it is much more of an amp for not a lot of money. Roland has a could of decent amps - one for street performing - that are not terribly expensive but not cheap either. My all time favorite low watt amp though is the BlackHeart 3-5 watt combo tube amp. I just got one yesterday and that thing is awesome. It also cost me 279. bucks, but it was worth it. I have a Peavey Classic 30 tube amp that rattles the house even when the volume is on low, so the BlackHeart was a nice addition for my guitar room for those times when I want a vintage tube amp but don't want the neighbors yelling.... You can switch back between the 3 and the 5 watts as needed. I have friends that gig with this amp and they love it. But I digress - the BlackHeart isn't a mini....

I got a cigarbox amp off ebay uk a few months ago from a with the tag "space_man2". I seem to remeber he also sells the amp on it's own for about 12 pounds GB. I like the amp although it sounds better with a magnetic pickup than a piezo in my opinion. I also have the microcube and I love the range of sounds.

I've been looking at several National Semi parts that look promising.
I got a JFR Cuban Seed Corojo cigar box that would hold a 6" to 7" speaker and lots of room for the amp, heat sink and fan, etc. This would work in the 5-15W range. This would be a basic amp with tone and volume control. No parametric equalizer, etc. Just a plain n dirty amp. Pre-amp for either inductive pickup or piezo could be included.
A 15V 1A worthog (wall dongle, plug in power converter, etc) would support up to 15W.
I'm an engineer so I may be way off base from what most people feel comfortable doing.
My favorite is the Orange Micro Crush. I also have the Fender Twin and the Marshall and they don't compare. The Crush actually sounds like a real amp, because it has a good 4" speaker and 3 Watts output (compared to 1 watt for the others). It has a jack for a 9V adapter. A nice bonus is a built in guitar tuner. Another reason I like the Orange is that it was easy to take apart when I installed it in a Acid Cigar box. Check out my photos!

Check out my album and see what you think. 5 watts running into dual 6" with vol, tone and adjustable gain. Runs off of 9 volts or AC with the included adapter.
