Grounding

All put together plays great but cant play open without a ground hum.i have a grounds to the bridge plate and strings.

Yep a whole house full of them just have to play in the dark. On the up side makes my vid posts moor watchable.

Obviously, some pickups are far more prone to this than others.

Take a look around, are you in/near a room with fluorescent lights, a light dimmer..... (The usual suspects)

My Les Paul copy does that too. I haven't found a way to eliminate it yet. I ran separate ground wires, and tried all kinds of stuff. I will be trying to put some copper foil in the pickup wells next.

As long as you have contact to the jack bridge or strings im fine open have a hum

Does it hum when you are not touching the strings, but the hum goes away when you touch the strings?
