Frustrations...

I see all sorts of wonderful ideas here on CBN, but when I try to find the needed bits.... One member had made nice-looking frets from brass nails. I have been in every hardware store within ten miles and they look at me like I'm from outer space.... "Brass nails?" Also the nice flush-mount brass drawer-pulls. Using them to mount 1/4" jacks looks very cool. Same thing. Lowes and Home depot have whole walls full of drawer hardware, and not a single one of these flush-mount jobs. Today, I go looking for a 9/64 cobalt bit. (I need to drill through a tough piece of steel for another project) Three different hardware stores....All had cobalt, none had the right size. I'm also looking for brass sheet stock with much the same results; maybe hobby stores.

  • Yea,

I know. Some things people show off and it's like "common place" in thier area but I live is Kansas for gosh sakes....
Then again, part of the fun is going to Lowe's or the local Ace Hardware or the local resale shop that look for things that could be something else on a CBG....

For sheet brass, in my area, the smaller hardware stores often have 4x8 inch sheets for $ 4-5. If you what a lot more, think about buying a kick panel for a door.... solid brass 10X30 inches for @ $20.

    the best,
