No not a scarf joint at all. The neck is made from two boards laminated together. I roughly cut the neck shape from the resulting board, including the angle for the headstock. Because of the ugly join on the headstock I decided to trim it down and add a face plate.
It was all done a bit back to front but worked out well in the end.

Bridge looks a little close to the edge, you may get better sound by moving it a bit toward the center of the box.
You'd have to change your fret markings to suit the changed scale length
