I am doing 3 CBG's at one time. 3 stringers GDG. 1 acoustic,1 elect/acou and 1 electric. I am going with a 24.75 scale length with 23 frets. Going with bolt on necks. Necks are laminated walnut 5/8X2 and oak 1/4.Layed up so to have 1/32 for sanding. I understand that 12th fret to bridge is to be 12 3/8 to bridge. My question is: Where do I want my bridge to end up. Is the middle of the box the best place or 1/3 or 1/4 way on the box? What are my considerations? I know this has probably been covered but my search engine doesn't work on this site.

  •  i usually place the bridge roughly 1 - 2  inches from the tail edge of the box - you'll need a good break angle for the strings from the bridge to the string anchors otherwise they may buzz and move widthways along the bridge (-:

    ...Perfecto!

  • I would shoot for 25 to 30 percent of the box size. So if the box was 12 inches long, I would try to put it roughly 4 inches or so in from the tail end of the box. That is just a starting point though...just as long as it is in a position that will create sufficient vibrations.
