Right this is a blank canvas for anyone to join in on.
I'm a bit worried that some people think that they won't be able to do anything "good enough" to put on here.....so if those backing tracks were a bit daunting, here's me thumping a pile of books, which is about as basic as it gets!! I looped it to make it 4 mins long.
Imagine this as a casual jam.... what you record doesn't have to be perfectly recorded, or perfectly played. Lets just have some fun!!
This track was was used in the infamous "Bed Warmer Blues"!!!....and I actually bruised my hand doing it, so it would be good to get a bit more back from it!!
IF YOU WANT TO ADD A TRACK, right click, then choose "save as" to save the THUMP to your computer. Record something along to it then post your track back on here.
If we get enough tracks I can mix them together...or anyone who wants to can do that once the tracks are up here. We might even be able to make several songs!!
This is the first discussion I've ever done on here, so PLEASE someone add something, otherwise I'll feel like I've thrown a party and no one has turned up : -/

yep.. even procrastinating going to bed....
hope they cam out okay... did them quickly on Mr Zoom and just uploaded.
came.... jeez
Alright! Cool!
A couple of quick thoughts, yes a common key (and of course tuning standard) would make this all work a lot better. The tracks dont all have to fit together though, pick a groove and if someone likes yours they can play along and develop more tracks in that groove. This means things can branch out in multiple directions though so labeling the track names and communicating can be very important!
Another important thing is timing and synchronization. If you include a count in that matches one on the track you are playing to, the tracks are very easy to synch in a multi track program. They just kind of fall into place with very little effort. (See the tutorial on this for tips and ideas) Scroll down to "collaboration tips/synching tracks" and click on the link. It doesnt have to be complicated, just a four count in time with the original. One good example would be the beginning of Tres Seavers Rhumba track.
yeah I didn't think this through before starting it....but it's already turning into something!! I've even got a verse to sing to it when I get time to record it!!
I thought with the beat, people could count in with that?
Yes naming the tracks including who they're by and what instrument it is is a good idea to avoid confusion!!
If people load in the first track, then play/sing whatever along to it, it should be synched anyway surely? With this I had to make some bits to loop as Chris's bits were quite short....
Where the count in/synch thing really shines is when you want to insert a section, like a lead for example, without a long silent wait trying to figure out whats going on. Its just a suggestion.
ah yeah..if you save the silence as well it's even easier, but makes for big files!!
I got myself a vintage bedbugkiller !
it's made of vintage copper too
it's killed all my friends...
so I will just have to play here, with you
Bug
ha, btw what instrument were you playing on your bit?..sounds very good!!. I've looped your tracks and added them to mine..started playing along and have written a verse to sing...just got to find time to record them....
Hi
So I had a try with your book beat and added some other sample drum stuff I found that was free to use I will upload the zip for it.
I just picked random bits out a rattle bass drum and hihat there are 100s to choose from.
Its going to be fun to play with I think.I hope its not defeating the point of self made music but even the best chef will use a little salt and pepper,
I have only tryed recording stuff the last few days as Audcity was linked on here gotta love CB Nation.
Dave
Gotta render to MP3 so everyone can play along David! I get gobbledy gook. LOL!
oops it just a very short, Sorry will try again. Its WAV hope that it works.
