NEW THIS YEAR!!!- Learn to play the cigar box guitar with the two leading players in Europe - Hollowbelly and Chickenbone John.
This is a unique opportunity to learn from the two foremost personalities in the cigar box guitar scene. Suitable for players of all abilities, we will assess attendees capabilities, and break into two groups, then swap over tutors after lunch, so you'll get the benefit of two different approaches to playing. We'll be covering basic playing, left and right hand techniques, slide, chords, bass patterns, solos and much more. We'll also be giving tips on selecting equipment and on stagecraft.
If you haven't got a cigar box guitar, don't worry, we can provide instruments. If you are bringing your own guitar, we will be playing in a G-D-G tuning. I recommend 042, 032, 024 gauge strings, or something similar (the 5th, 4th and 3rd strings from a medium gauge set of strings will usually work OK). I also recommend using a fretted guitar, but if you have a fretless guitar, as long as the action is low enough to be able to hold down barre chords as well as as using a slide, it should be OK.

Workshop runs from 11.00am - 5.00 (approx finish time)
The workshop is part of the Vintage and Retro Festival, so there will be music, dance, fashion, stalls selling retro chic, vintage cars and bikes - there will be a genuine daredevil motorcycle "Wall of Death"!!!
