NEW THIS YEAR!!! - Learn to play 6 string slide guitar.

If you've fancied the idea of learning how to play bottleneck slide guitar, or tried and struggled, this is definitely for you. I'll be taking you through the techniques of playing in open tunings to learn classic blues. We'll cover open G and open D tunings, slide technique, chords and bass runs, to learn how  to play simple 12 bar blues, and you'll also get an introduction to the one chord Hill Country style.

Learning in a small face-to-face group is by far the best way - I originally taught myself how to play slide, but only really progressed when I started going to workshops and lessons with some top-class players. Don't worry about being embarrassed about playing in front of other people - learning in a group is a supportive, comfortable environment.

You'll need to bring a guitar - an ordinary acoustic will be just fine, it's not necessary to have a resonator guitar. If you've got one that's OK, but please note just one restriction - no electric guitars and amps please. This will be small group, and just one quiet electric guitar will swamp-out the group. I recommend a fairly heavy set of strings (013 or heavier), and a middling to slightly high action helps, but you don't need a really high action on your guitar.

The venue is literally on my home turf, in the leafy surroundings of Warley Woods, an 18th century listed landscape, designed by Humphry Repton.
