what do you mean by 2 or 3 channel ? if you mean 2 or 3 recorded loops you can switch between then you are looking at BIG money.

Hey Will, I’ve played around with a bunch of loopers, and it seems to me that the brand name loopers are the way to go, if you plan to make a solid investment? Don’t get me wrong, those $30 chinese loopers work good, but brands like TC electronics, DIgitech, Boss, EHX produce loops that are noticeably higher in sound quality than the cheaper ones. I like cheap too, but if you’re a traveling/recording musician, then make the investment? BTW the Amoon AP-09 Looper is well worth the $30-40 & it’s got 10 min. of loop time. not bad for an entry level looper? Hope I haven’t clouded your mind too much :) I would go to your local music store & demo what they have, also look for the “ditto” by TC electronics, a great mid price looper?

Donner , Moorer   both make 10min loop unlimited over dubs for under $50 and some good effects for under $35 steel box

If I understand overdub, that means that you can layer music( add bass, beat, organ, voice, harmony). Is that correct? If so why would I need multiple channels. If I'm wrong please explain. I know nothing about this, but would like to experiment around with it!

yes, add layers. but as others have said each layer uses up memory. so in a 10 minute capable looper you could get 10 ,1 minute layers or 20, 30 second layers or 5, 2 minute layers...

i got the one i did becaus of this

"48K, 24bit lossless, uncompressed and professional tone quality.
Max. 5 minutes recording time, unlimited overdub loop."

some of the 10 minute ones did not specify sample rate and bit depth of the ADC.. ( analog digital convertor)  and i think some were 16 bit . More bits = better ... lol

It's the Cadillac.Been looping for  1o years. I'm def a boss fan ,tho have had evry Boss looper since The RC 20.I got a deal on this one for 250$.They run about 500 ,but I've seen deals on EBay. TC Electronics is ok ,but this will loop for days,save it,It has downloadable beats ,whole songs and killer sound. . I prefer one with beats .Some people say that canned beats are impersonal ,but if the music grooves,it grooves.. If you want to loop multiple instrument ,you want want to get a lil cheap Behringer mixer .Most loopers don't have multiple inputs. good luck in yer search .Lemmee know if you have any questions...cheers

If you want to dabble and have an iPad there is an app called loopy. Jimmy Fallon used it on his show with Billy Joel, you can see it on YouTube
