I wrote this new folk tune on this cigar box dulcimer I made. The box is a large retail display box for cigars, poplar neck, oak fingerboard. Played acoustically. Tuned DGD.

  • Hi Reg, I do have a pick-up in this in case it is needed but no mallets so may be safe ;) Thank you for the back history and for the nice comments!

  • I was in a band way back which featured a rather attractive young damsel playing a Hammer Dulcimer with those spoon shaped mallets. Alright if you liked acoustic, but we were Folk Rock orientated, so we installed a pick-up... worst mistake we ever suffered, the overtones when plugged in were ear splitting, ran into each other, causing this monstrous cacophony of noise, she could not actually hear this, but us on the back row were mightily dismayed.... Yours is so sweet a sound, excellent, it has restored my faith in Dulcimers again, thanks for that......

  • Thanks Richard! Big complement about the humming it! Sounds like yo got the urge to go too, lol. Train songs I think, are meant to be sung along with. Thx again :)

  • Sounds great Derek! I’m learning to play air dulcimer, figure that’s a good place to start! Big box, big sound, big good old folk song. Definitely a song  that grows on you, I was humming it at work from listening to it yesterday. Humming trains songs working next to an airport I was!

  • Thank you Nancy! I appreciate your nice comments and the cool picture! :)

  • Thanks Pic!

  • Thank you Snuffy!
