Just fitted a rod piezo which came with jack point fitted to it. It's sitting in a piece of hardwood with a nail on top of it.As you can see....it don't work! If I jiggle the lead in the socket a bit it makes a sound but nothing from the strings.....help!What have I done wrong here?

  • Good advice and sorry to possibly complicate issues, but I've had one of these strap mount/ pickup combinations not work on arrival and had another go bad and cut out.  In fact, I just remove that one today and kind of screwed up a vintage box in the process.   Good wishes.

  • Thanks guys....I'll check it out as you suggested.

  • rods   usually  need a downward  pressure  applied to  them  to  function    properly  ..  some   folks even  inbed them    in  the  bottom  of a   bridge  sticking out  a  bit  so  the strings   sandwich it  to  the  box  .

if  yout  rod  was    cut ,  or  crimped  in any  way , it   may be  shorting itself   out   if the 2  layers  of  metal  inside are touching  .

if  you   can remove  the  rod from the wood  ,  do  so ,   and  test the   rod  by  tapping  it  on  the    box  .  then  check  your connections  ..  mainly  that  tiny  wire  at the  end  of the  rod  ..  then check  your  jack  .

that should at least  trouble shoot  it    for ya  .
