  Nick, one way to help if your just using a webcam and built in mic is to form a semi circle and get a liittle further from the camera. Put you quietest instrument in the center facing dead at the camera/mic. Have the other 2 instruments facing each other from either side of the first one.
  
  Since your singing, and would have been on the side facing the guitar in, you could have angled your face back a little toward the camera for the vocal.
  
  Most of the problem here may have just been clipping because you were all so close to the camera. Not as big a deal by yourself, but with three of you it was probably more than that MAC could handle.
