As far as I know there are numerous bouzouki like instruments from different cultures. Kurt mentioned he was experimenting with 3/6 as a more primitive version. Interestingly... I was in McCabe's looking for a MandoCello and I found this puppy. My brother was with me and he was in a hurry..He just grabbed some video.. The sound is very much like a banjo but more bell like. Doesn't really come across in this video. It has a very warm tone in real life.
Great instrument.
I thought from the title that it would have 8 strings, but the greek bouzouki also has 6 strings, so I suppose it is a perfectly legitimate claim.
Looks very nice too, and seems to sound close to a banjo with the resonator on it...
thanks...it was THE most inspiring instruments I've ever played... I've been thinking about building the same thing... but KURTS stuff is just soooo good... I'm hoping one day to be able to afford one and build something else... what? I'm not sure yet? Certainly, the best Cigar Box build I've seen
