Thanks Derek
Beautiful song and excellent performance.
thanks Shane. What Wendy is doing is incredible. I saw her on the BBC news today in a feature about dementia.
An example of how badly her dementia affects her, which she relates in her book - When she was at home in her kitchen she got scared as she couldn't remember what was behind either of the doors. She would look but as soon as she shut it again she didn't know. Her solution was to get a screwdriver and remove the doors! So, to be that badly affected, and still travel alone on buses and trains all over the country raising awareness, is amazing to me!
thanks Nancy : -)
I was listening to the interview on the radio last week .
Hats off to her and you .
Lovely B....Meowww...^..^
Hi Dave, it's good you were able to spend that time with your Mum. Hope you got support yourself...
thanks Sammy, yes I didn't want to throw the tin out, so I thought, why not make it into a guitar : -)
I hadn't played it in months and got it off the wall late one evening, and although I usually strum it, I started doing the picking thing (which is odd with 2 string as I'm used to 3!) Then as Wendy's book was fresh in my mind, words about that started coming out...X
My mom went the way of pernicious anemia. A form os dementia. I took care of my mom the final 3 years of her life. She passed away at 85 though and had a good life. She was very imaginative in the end with lucid visions and hallucinations. I feel very good being with her through to the end. Thanks B.
Simply lovely Be, how sweet to have an instrument made from something that reminds you of times with your folks. Loving the technique and the song is just awesome. Good on you girl. So natural and authentic.
