  • Love the tone on that guitar!
  • Hey Chris, great guitar, I need to make another video to describe mine like you did for yours. If you count material only I've got about the same cost in it but if you count some tools I just had to have (haha) the the price of my cbg really goes up. Great sound comin' out of it. I also had to get a smaller screw to lower the action and would really love to lower it a little more but I'm already scrapin' the box with the pick when I'm strummin. Any lower at the bridge and I'd have no strummin' room at all.
  • Thanks Warren! I now have a real slide, and it sounds much better. I ended up staying with the small screw to hold the lid, I still want to amp it up down the road sometime. As far as the action, I did get it lower by changing the bridge, nut and adding different strings. Still not low enough to fret like a normal guitar, but the makeshift nail frets do not function the greatest anyway. LOL

Thanks for the kind words bro, I have more builds on the way. Stop by anytime and say hi and see whats doing!
  • Damn! That's cool! Great sound! I can realate to your being happy with the sound. I was surprised that my build sounded like somethng (anything). Thanks for describing the parts and the costs - that's a big part of the deal (for me, anyway). Sure enough, your cell phone is better than mine - I can't get that quality with anything (I'm working on it though).

I used magnets to hold my box shut; not sure that helps now, but thought I'd mention it. I am using (wrench) sockets for a slide.

Once you get the action down to fretting level, please let us know how you accomplished it. My action is also a mile high. Works good for slide, which I am trying like hell (oops) to learn, but I'd really like to play it like a guitar now and then.

Kudos to your old lady. Great job of holding the camera straight!
  • I ended up placing a small screw where the small nail was to hold down the lid. I am keeping it simple because I am not too sure if I want to amp this one or not. We will see how the next builds go. LOL Thanks man!!!!!
  • You can get box corners and keep the lid down or glue a piece of wood .5" x .5" x 10" on the lip of the lid and screw a couple of small screws into it to hold it shut.
  • Major mojo Chris, I really like the directors input, ah-hem. I'll have to try video of my own.
  • I just joined this site after watching your video.Inspired me to build my own,Thanks
  • sweet...my first build sucked ass!
  • That thing sounds great. Very gritty & primal, lo-fi at it's best. I even think the lighter as a slide helps give it that tone. Very nicely done Christopher!
