Very true. I am shameless about asking neighbours about wood in their skips. I have a stockpile of mahogany from some lovely window frames that were replaced with plastic. All that tropical hardwood going to landfill!

Thanks Ruth and Steve. Steve, recycling not only helps the budget but I hate seeing good timber go in the skip - such a waste.

'Tis true about hardwood in the UK. It's often very expensive if you can find it in specialist timber suppliers or the DIY stores just sell knotty, warped pine. Recycled is the only way to do it on a budget!
