Testing out Build 2. I really like playing it.. I still may try to take the action down a touch more though.

  • yeah...alot of dudes taper the neck

I played my cbg for communion other day...try it during practice
  • yeah I don't mind the flatness of the fingerboard. I think if I make another six string I will make the neck wider down at the body side so the string spread is wider at the bridge... make it easier to finger pick...
  • It may be more what you just get used to. I see all sorts of fancy "compound radius" necks being offered now, but classical players still get along pretty well on necks that are virtually flat....
  • Spencer, it wasn't really any different to make other than sticking the steel beam inside the neck.

I have seen ways to make the curved sanding blocks...

Hey, I play acoustic at my church... I doubt they'd let me pick on the cbg though hehe.
  • I know what you are talking about... I still think on this one it could be lowered a touch... but that may be effort better placed in the next build hehe...

    Thanks for the comment
  • Man I need to make a 6 string, so i can play it at church...needs to sounds acoustic though.

I noticed that too about the flat fretboard...thought maybe bout getting one of them radiused sanding blocks or something
  • nice job brian. i think you may find that your 'action issue' is more about the flat fretboard than the string height. it's what i noticed. i like the flat board though, slows me down and i really have to 'mean, what i play.

    cheers
