Thanks Uncle John. I have to give part credit to Randy on the solution for the peg head cracks. I was frustrated and considering drilling and doweling it together. He wisely suggested a nice wood inlay and then, in a flash of mediocre thought, I knew what I had to do. Randy and I actually traded several ideas back and forth on this guitar. He's a great sounding board for an isolated builder like me.
