here's my shopping list for the tuners:
(home depot is the only place i've found with 3" long eye bolts of this size, so these prices are current Home Depot prices)
3/16"x3 eye bolts (2 in a pack with 2 nuts) = $.98
3/16" x 24 thread wing nuts (4 in a pack) = $.98
#10 washers (20 in a pack) = $.98
so, for a six stringer, we'd have 3 packs of eye bolts, 2 packs of wing nuts, and 1 pack of washers.
that's 6 items at $.98 per pack...
$5.88 for six tuners.
or $.98 per tuner.
plus no shipping costs, and no waiting. you can resupply on a moment's notice, in any town, by counting the change from the couch cushions. even towns that have (gasp) no internet, and no music stores!
Hi Crow, about how much does all the hardware cost to make 6 tuners? Is it significantly cheaper than a $22+ship set of chinese machines? If eye bolts are ~$1.50 that's already about $10 with tax. I'm a cheapskate to be sure, but if it's only a few dollars difference,I'll stick with the speed and precision of 14:1.
The eyebolts do look cool though and have more DIY cred!
