What a weekend...
Nearing completion on a cat-bowl resonator concert-scale ukulele. I'm not a huge fan of non-neck-through builds. They try my patience and I'm leery of the neck joints. This one should be fine - it's a uke after all. But still! Using one of those Ashton boxes with the label that wraps almost all the way around. Put the bowl on the bottom covering the part that isn't covered by the label. Looks neat. Neck is cut and shaped, box is almost ready, neck support is glued in. Just have to join the neck and make a bridge and she's out the door.
The down is I had to have my cat, Mean Mr. Mustard (Muzz), put to sleep. He was only 2 years only but had suffered two embolisms that caused seizures and left him unable to get around. He was one of those singular pets you run across once in a while that is different than the others. He always greeted me in the morning and wouldn't let me get on with my morning routine until he got his lovins first. Gonna miss him a hell of a lot. Today was super tough to get out the door knowing he wasn't there... But I was there for him and held him as we sent him onward.
I found an amazing portrait tattoo artist in the area and I'm going to get Muzz affixed to my body as permanently as he is in my mind.

Sorry Craig,
I buried my old friend Canuk this past winter, he was a black lab and he lived to 12 years so he had a good life. I buried him out next to the Missouri River on the high bank overlooking the river, it's just upstream from where I take my cbg photo's. I have another chocolate lab named Sage and he misses his buddy Canuk as much as I do. It's tough as he lays out next to Canuks grave when we're out there with this sad look on his face. Animals are a lot smarter than people think, he knows somethings not right. But if they have a good life then there are no regrets, just great memories. Hang in there man.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved friend. It never fails to amaze me how some people just don't get how an animal can hold such an important place in your heart and don't understand how much we grieve when we lose them.
Awesome :-) I found a really cool box for Muzz's ashes. It has brass lion on it
Sorry for your loss, Craig. I lost my favorite cat, Joe Strummer, last year. He used to visit me in the shop every day, affectionately knocking stuff off shelves and rolling around on piles of paper. I've owned & lost many cats over the years, but this one really crushed me. After some time, when it felt right, we went out and adopted a pair of kittens. A boy & a girl.. Ace & Billie. There will never be another Joe.. or Muzz, but just this morning, Ace decided to follow me up to the shop. He is fascinated by the air compressor, he knocked a few things of the shelves. He's been here with me all day.
