Neck length

Hey y'all, Ga. Boy here. I have made a bunch of guitars and dont really know if there is a standard length for the neck or if it really matters or not. Any ideas?

  • Good to know. Thanks man.
  • There's no "standard" neck length for cigar box guitars...BUT with musical instruments we usually talk about the "scale" length, which is the distance from nut to saddle, the actual vibrating length of the string, which is quite different from neck length. Typical guitar scale lengths are 24 3/4" for Gibson, 25 1/2" for Fender, 22 1/2" for lap steel...but there are no rules.make it to whatever suits you..or the available timber.
