Completed my first CBG, though it was technically the second one I started building. Learned a lot, especially what not to do. Mainly, don't rush - some frets (cotter-keys) are a smidge crooked. It sounds really good though to my untrained ear. My second (no pictures as of yet) was the first I started and eventually completed - is a neck through that I put polyurethane on. Has same scale and box, but it sounds like a banjo. I almost hate to send this one off...

Nice work.
Thanks Henry. Stepping up my game with the third one. Hope it comes out okay. This is an addiction LOL.
WOW! NICE job!
Timothy ~ thought about that but was afraid I'd glue the square to the neck. Came close enough with my fingers....
one of the guys here gave me the tip of using a square to help set the frets, i am using split pins for frets as well..
John ~ With me playing it, not great (I've never even tried to play an instrument until this), but I really dig it. It sounds like... hard to explain really, but a lot more... depth than I expected maybe? The occasional sharp/flat note is interesting (due to the wonky frets), but it grew on me. It was like it developed it's own personality because of it. Plus I could always blame the frets when I missed a note trying to learn! Was VERY impressed on how well the eye-bolt tuners held a tune once I got the strings stretched and worked into the wood at the heel. Will most definitely keep using them for now.
Very cool... Low tech! How does it sound?
Lonman ~ Thanks.
Hal ~ Thanks. I haven't settled on a basic design yet, though I like the sound of the neck on top better than the through-the-box guitar I built (sounds like a banjo for some reason). Current one (build #3) is a combination of those two. More of an embedded or sunk in top neck. And yes, I very much have the bug. Can't wait to actually get to build myself one.
Nicely done! Love the subtle graphic elements. Even though I've kinda settled on a basic design, each one is different and, hopefully a little better than the last. Guessing you have the bug now!
nice job, like the red and design
