My first attempt to build a Cigar Box Fiddle. I would like to craft everything myself, even the fingerboard. Hopefully the sound justifies the effort..
seems so :-) I must admit I got a little bored from building CBG. Violins are new to me and really challenging. I think of making five 'cause I got pear wood from an old barn at the countryside.
And... ta-taa.. I will try the Flatpup as pickup system. That's why I used guitar strings instead of violin strings. But I'm not sure whether it works, because the pickup is placed where the bow moves. I could transmit the scratchin, but let's try it

the guts of Klangbox violin n°5
The cutaways are covered with brass tin..
YES please do... cameron_bleuer@yahoo.com ...thank you very much !!
Cigar Box Violin no° 1 had a quite thick bridge 5->3 mm. The current one, n°2 is slim: 4->2 mm
Some more finetuning and n° 2 will be finished. The magnetic Flatpup is attached, I'm curious how it will sound..
Exciting! Can't wait to hear how the experiment works!

Looks like a serious jig setup for building more than just one of these. Are we going to see a production line of Klangbox violins soon? :)
cool Jon, I create such a file and mail it to you.
Here is the link again that shows the making of the fingerboard (had to remove the first video which had copiright music):

I'd be interested in that file of the neck shape as well - that's beautiful work!
Thanks!
