Bone & Wood Slides + the Art of Collecting Guitar Slides

I think I've found the world's smallest music niche.  Guitar slide collecting.

I love slide guitar.  I love all kinds of slide guitar... from the old Delta guys like Blind Willie Johnson to Hindustani Slide Guitar Ragas. (Think "Ravi Shankar meets Duane Allman".  You get the idea.  There's a video here.)

What I haven't told you is I've been sober for about nine weeks now.  I just got tired of drinking, so I quit.  I've been spending my evenings playing music and delving into my love of slide guitar.  I even re-opened www.StubbySlide.com as a slide guitarist's shop of curiosities to explore the art of slide.  Here's the latest cool thing I've just listed:
Bone & Wood by Mojobone

A limited run of five handmade guitar slides by Randy Bretz.

Randy Bretz of Mojobone Works creates these in his Pennsylvania shop. He's legendary in the cigar box guitar circles. Rarely seen...often found posting photos of outlandishly carved bone artwork on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/MojoboneWorks

Bone slides are the old Delta Blues standard for dry, mournful and distinct tones. It's less of a sliding sound and more of a hollering noter that makes the string ring. And wood is earthy. Quiet. Subtle. Perfect for classical guitars.

These guitar slides are pure art

Currently limited to these five unique pieces.   See the listing for more information and photos.  I've listed five tonight.  One sold within 10 minutes.

NEXT WEEK:  Stay tuned for the release of Stay Primal by Shane Speal and the Snakes.  The album features four different album covers!

Until then, do like the album says...
Stay primal!

Thanks, Pick.  The sobriety thing for me was just a natural progression.  Luckily, I didn't have a bad incident to make the change.  I was really getting tired of drinking every night.  I figured I'd take a year off, especially since I got this book deal.  Clean up and do more work.
