I have been building guitars for 3 years now and have benefited from all the knowledge shared here and elsewhere on the web. I still can't get over how unlike most other special-interest forums Cigar Box Nation is.
Since I am not working full time at the moment and I'm half-time getting my Masters degree so I can teach high school chemistry next fall, I started up my guitar building as a small business. Last weekend I set up a website at www.badfingerguitar.com and also started a couple Pinterest boards, hoping to snag in some new-new customers who are not already perfectly familiar with CBGs and the like. If you have a Pinterest account, follow me if you like. I put up some in-progress pics as guitars are being built as well as finished instruments.
You can find me on Facebook too. Stop by and throw me a like, if you want. :) A lot of pics get loaded on my FB page since it is fast and easy with my phone. I try to catch up from the desktop on CBN when I can.
I also have a couple guitars ready for shipping on the website. Click here to check out some of my Roadhouse blues guitars, including an original Sawzall box guitar for sale.
Thanks for taking a look.

Me too, but not all see it that way. I just love to build even though sometimes it is frustrating. At my skill set, it is sometimes about overcoming screw-ups and setbacks.
Speaking of screw-ups and setbacks. That Elmar pickup you gave me.... It is no longer in a guitar. The box on the one it was in cracked and fell apart - in spite of me trying to strengthen it. I saved the Elmar and think about reusing it, but so far have not done so. I think I eventually will. It sounded great.
I absolutely have to build what I love, not just what I think will sell 30 seconds after I post it up. That will fit for some customers and not for others. So be it. I view it more as art than anything else.
Thanks, Eric and best wishes. Build for fun, not money.
Yes, Uncle John it is for sale. I've built two of them now and one was sold to a good friend I had from high school age. This one was built with the intent to sell as well. I do love them, and I will build more. Maybe I'll do two at once and keep one for myself eventually. I have my techniques down for this construction.
This activity will also kick me out the door to do some performing, which I've sorely needed to do but lacked the incentive. I got a credit card reader for my phone so hopefully I come back home heavier in the wallet and lighter in the guitar.
I really don't want to be trapped into making 100 $80-99 guitars to make this seem worthwhile, so the odd 5-string guitars with a little higher prices will be the norm. I'm kicking around a 4-string Farmyard Relic and 4-string Steampunk on the bench right now. Screwing up a couple necks slowed me down a little the last week or so. Lost a little mojo.
If you, or anyone has some critical feedback on the website and would like to either message me here or post up, I would welcome it. I've done a bit of conceptual web development in the past, but I fully recognize my brain and organization work one way, and not everyone is the same.
Thanks for taking a look, Uncle John. Your words of encouragement over the years and feedback have been much more valuable than selling you a guitar. :) You're one of the best.
Sell the Sawzall git? No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate to see that one leave you.
Cool stuff, Eric. I am a fan. But I need to get rid of some guitars, not buy one. Good wishes.
I'm selling the Black Scorpion Guitar with a matching Mojobone Works slide and pick set.
