Alternative frets for cello/ViolaDaGamba

I have a 6 string Bass Viol and my fast scale technique is hard on the tied frets which pull loose easily Are there stiff rubber bands or twisty ties anyone has tried before to fret an arched fingerboard?

On this lute I built the nylon fret knots are sealed with the hot tip of a soldering iron to stop the coming loose. You could also notch each fret position on both edges of the fingerboard with a needle file to stop the frets moving, but if it's a valuable instrument forget that.
