I am probably the last to know but I just discovered backing tracks. Tons of them on YouTube such as slow blues in G. Now I need to try to learn some solo riffs. Anyone have any favorite tracks to…Continue

"Totally not cbg related.  After a long stint of home remodeling, I took a little break to carve out a Greenland kayak paddle.  Rough sanded and wetted to raise the grain.  Found a plan to make one from a cedar 2x4 and was intrigued to…"

Kigar replied to Sean Murphy's discussion Using a spokeshave?
"I have used both the spokeshave and drawknife and for me, some pieces work great and some just don't work at all.  As others said, going the opposite direction can help too if it is catching the grain of the wood."

Kigar replied to Patrick Allison's discussion LM386 Amps, AliExpress
"You can find the kits for a little over a dollar, they work ok considering they are a 1/4 watt, but the mods are easy to add as you can swap out the components before soldering.  A good and cheap way to develop some soldering skills too."

License Plate Guitar

Posted on January 31, 2016 at 9:35pm 6 Comments

Thought I'd post this one, it was my second build.  Box was scrap hardwood flooring, the tongue side made a great recess for the plate.  The bottom is scrap thin ply of unknown origin.  The neck is the unique feature, it is half of a hickory branch that was originally intended for a bow but I decided the the knots and kink are beyond my bowyer abilities.  The kink made the string break for the tuners.  The action is no action, with the curvy branch it is slide only for this one.  I passed…
